Best French Restaurant
Readers' Pick: Andre's French Restaurant
Andre's is a sentimental favorite in this category, and no wonder, because it has anchored its spot in a converted house on Sixth Street since 1980. Andre's is beloved for its Old World charm and country French decor, but also for a just-traditional-enough menu that has plenty of updated dishes such as black tiger shrimp ravioli with pomegranate sauce and creme fraeche, and sauteed tenderloin of venison wrapped in pancetta. Marche Bacchus is a distant second.
Best Wine Selection
Staff Pick: Andre's French Restaurant
Andre's owner Andre Rochat is a wine-list pioneer in Las Vegas, offering a well-varied list when most of his customers were still on a cocktail kick, and that tradition continues today, with a list that's about reached book proportions. We like that Andre's list is varied, and that it has a good selection of the higher-profile higher-end wines, as well as some less-familiar, lower-priced ones, for those of us who like to experiment and are on a budget that only an ink-stained wretch could appreciate.
Most Romantic Restaurant
Readers' Pick: Andre's French Restaurant
Oh, c'mon, what's more romantic than a French restaurant, with the staff uttering all of those romantic-sounding words and a menu filled with sensual, sensuous textures and flavors? And the fact that Andre's is cozy and intimate only adds to the picture. Pamplemousse -- another cozy French restaurant -- finishes a distant second.
