Middle and most elegant sibling in André Rochat's family of three Las Vegas restaurants, Andre's at the Monte Carlo succeeds in its aim to re-create the ambience of a Renasissance-era French château. From the recessed, hand-painted ceiling and the Versace chargers, to the crimson U-shaped booths that nuzzle intimate alcoves along the perimeter of the small room, the décor bespeaks a tranquility centuries removed from the modern world.
Classic, uncomplicated, and French at their core, the recipes here lean more toward the ocntremporary (thick pan-roasted diver scallops with celery-root purée) than the menu at the original Andre's downtown. Courses wheeled to the table on carts, and plates covered by silver domes represent formal but not stuffy service, which pays special attention to detail.
A circular staircase winds upstairs to the two-story, glassed-in wine cellar.
